NASA and the banking crisis

NASA's "moon landing" was perhaps so elaborate and intricate that the cost would have soared into billions. While not directly responsible for today economic climate, I think it is fair to suggest that the events of July 1969 set in motion a chain of events that had the government reaching deep into their pockets, which in turn has affected nations around the world in the decades after.
